A Villa for your Vacation in Tuscany
Villa La Dogana is a beautiful, elegant Tuscan villa surrounded by woods in the foothills of the Apennine mountains to the north of Florence
The ancient castle (about 650 sq. m) was lovingly renovated to maintain its original features. The large and somewhat severe cut of the villa-castle hides within its interiors the elegant yet warm and welcoming atmosphere of a countryside home. Your family or group of friends can enjoy the privacy of the WHOLE VILLA to yourselves, with the swimming pool tucked behind the villa, gardens and comfort of private parking.
The villa is surrounded by a large enclosed garden. The large and beautiful swimming pool with a nearby changing room and shower offers the perfect setting for enjoying the Tuscan sun while a pergola offers a shaded area for relaxing and dining outdoors in the spring and summer as you enjoy a magnificent sunset with a glass of wine in hand.
Where we are
Villa La Dogana is located a few kilometers to the north of Barberino di Mugello in the foothills of the Apennines. Being so near to the Highway A1 Barberino di Mugello exit makes it really easy to reach all of the important cities in Tuscany. Stay in the countryside but in about 30 minutes you are once again in Florence for a day trip to the cradle of the Renaissance. In an hour you are in the heart of Chianti, while an hour and a half takes you to either Pisa or Siena.
In the immediate vicinity of La Dogana in the Mugello you can visit important historical, architectural and cultural sites including the Medici Villa of Cafaggiolo and the Trebbio Castle as well as enjoy a day of outlet shopping for designer brands at the Barberino Outlet Village.
So much to do in the Mugello!
From the tower of the castle, one can see in the distance the valley of Barberino di Mugello and the Lake of Bilancino and, at the same time, get the impression of being in a place lost in time.
At Villa La Dogana, you can relax and enjoy the peace of nature as you sunbathe by the swimming pool surrounded by the large, enclosed garden. You can enjoy walks on the well-marked walking trails located near the villa (marked and maintained by the Italian Alpine Club, CAI, in red and white paint) or explore the vast property of Dogana.
Mountain-bike lovers can enjoy themselves following the paths leading to the border of Tuscany and beyond; for lovers of water sports, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, you can enjoy a day out on the Bilancino Lake.
A short distance away, there is a flying school for micro-light gliders and so on.
Just a few kilometers away in Scarperia, you can attend the Moto Mondiale (motorbike championships) at the Mugello Grand Prix racing circuit while the 18-hole Poggio dei Medici Golf and Country Club, one of the most beautiful in the country, provides a day out on the links.
Anyone enjoying a day shopping will have fun at the nearby Barberino outlet shopping mall!
